UWE Bristol seeks a dynamic and ambitious Associate Professor who will lead research in the creative industries with interests across a range of areas including R&D methodologies, creative entrepreneurship, policy, cultural and creative ecologies, and creative place-making.
About usThe Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries and Education (ACE) is a creative, ambitious and inclusive Faculty, comprising four Departments: Art & Design; Film & Journalism; Arts & Cultural Industries and Education. We have 6,000 students participating in undergraduate and post graduate full and part time study. We work with over 400 members of staff and industry professionals across the Faculty. The Faculty has five sites across the city which connect us with local communities and industry partners. We have invested in two new state-of-the-art buildings at Bower Ashton Campus, providing industry-standard Film Studios, and a multi-disciplinary Fabrication Centre. These give our students and staff outstanding opportunities and experiences. Our practice based learning pedagogy prepares students for the careers in the creative, cultural and educational industries, and has been recognised with TEF Gold status. As a practice-based Faculty, partnership lies at the heart of the high-quality student experience we provide. Our new partnership with the iconic Arnolfini Art Gallery and Arts Council England will help us to develop a new vision for Visual Arts in the Bristol region, and we will continue to grow our strategic partnership portfolio to provide our students with industry-relevant skills.
Our reputation for research excellence in the creative industries continues to grow as we lead a succession of multi-million pound creative collaborative projects funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and Research England. The major projects we are undertaking across our research centres, highlight some of the most important aspects of our way of working - sector leading, co-creative with extensive industry partners and unrivalled student experience.
The Digital Cultures Research Centre (DCRC) is currently in receipt of investment from the Government's Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund in the form of two major multi-disciplinary projects. The projects, Bristol + Bath Creative R+D and the South West Creative Technology Network, bring together universities and industry partners in a collaborative framework, pooling their research and innovation expertise to respond to the challenges in the creative industries. The Centre for Fine Print Research (CFPR) was recently awarded GBP 7.7m from Research England's Expanding Excellence call (E3) to undertake a range of research projects over the next 3 years.
