CFPR is a distinctive centre of research excellence. We boast a strong reputation that attracts world-class collaborators across a wide range of sectors, including fine art, design, material science and engineering.
The Centre for Print Research (CFPR) at UWE Bristol is proud to be hosting the Impact Multidisciplinary Printmaking Conference, taking place in September 2022 and Materials Future conference, taking place in March 2023 at our Frenchay and City Campuses.
You will work primarily on preparing and delivering these two international conferences. Both events will be in person and online with an expected audience of 400-500 people. There will also be other smaller events and talks throughout the year.
About you:
You have a flair for thinking creatively, quickly and spontaneously. Working and communicating as part of a team, you are organised, able to work collaboratively and able to take instructions and communicate well with others.
You will be the first point of contact for the CFPR. In preparation, both events will require you to undertake day to day administrative support including processing academic paper submissions, collecting speaker abstracts, bios and photos, preparing spaces for exhibitions and demonstrations. You will help maintain the conference website and other social media platforms, keeping content up-to-date and accurate.
As a point of contact for external delegates, you will be responding to international delegates from a range of backgrounds. You will have good verbal and written communication skills, responding to a range of queries relating to submissions, exhibitions, trade fair, sponsorship, delegate rates, travel and hotels.
In preparation for the conferences, there will be a significant degree of hands-on preparation, including acknowledging receipt of and storing any artworks that have been delivered prior to Impact, assisting in the moving and hanging of artworks around the different venues, labelling exhibitions, and painting display boards, installing signs and waymarking and communicating with delegates during the conference.
The role will require for you to be working across Frenchay and City Campus
This post is partially based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed – £300m has been invested recently on new state-of-the-art learning spaces and accommodation while we continue to develop incredible new facilities to enhance our offer even further.
Frenchay campus has excellent transport links; as well as being located near the motorway network we are within walking distance of two train stations, our bus terminus connects us to the local bus and metrobus network and we also have a range of cycling and changing facilities.
This post is also based at our City Campus in Bristol city centre which comprises of Bower Ashton Studios, Arnolfini, Spike Island and Watershed and is home to UWE Bristol's creative and cultural subjects. Through a combination of University sites and partnerships with creative and cultural organisations in the city, we have developed a network of cultural and creative spaces. These enable our students and staff to develop their professional practice in inspiring learning environments as well as provide opportunities for creative collaboration and networking.
