A fantastic opportunity to take a leadership role in the delivery of MA Virtual and Extended Realities at UWE Bristol. The role is offered at 0.8FTE (4 days per week) for a fixed term of one year.

This post, based in the School of Creative and Cultural Industries, offers the opportunity to lead and develop a flagship postgraduate award in Virtual and Extended Realities with an emphasis on immersive storytelling.
This multidisciplinary MA has an established reputation within local, national and international immersive communities and is committed to creating inclusive pathways to learning, and supporting a new generation of storytellers, thought leaders, researchers, designers and content creators in this emerging field.
Interviews will take place in early November 2022.
About you:
We are looking for a creative media practitioner/academic with impressive research and practice credentials and considerable experience of postgraduate delivery. You will provide vision for the programme, bringing to life the debates and discourses around virtual reality, extended reality and immersive storytelling and inspire our students to refine and target their creative potential. You will have excellent networks to help our students explore a range of professional environments and develop successful careers.
You will be qualified to postgraduate or PhD level in a subject relevant to this role or have equivalent professional experience. You will have evidence of continuing professional development and possess sufficient breadth and depth of specialist knowledge in the disciplines of virtual and extended realities to work within an established teaching programme, and to support the course’s ongoing development. You will play an active role in student recruitment.
You will be a team player, thrive in a demanding yet rewarding environment and will make an enthusiastic contribution to the collegiate life of the subject group, department, faculty and university. You will either hold or be willing to undertake a teaching qualification or Higher Education Academy (HEA) Membership.
Where is this role based?
This post is based at our City Campus in Bristol city centre which comprises of Bower Ashton Studios, Arnolfini, Spike Island and Watershed and is home to UWE Bristol's creative and cultural subjects. Through a combination of University sites and partnerships with creative and cultural organisations in the city, we have developed a network of cultural and creative spaces. These enable our students and staff to develop their professional practice in inspiring learning environments as well as provide opportunities for creative collaboration and networking.
MA Virtual and Extended Realities is primarily based in our on-campus VR Lab within Arnolfini, a vibrant, harbourside creative hub. This studio/lab provides space for immersive media teaching, research and development, and supports a dynamic ecosystem of talent, training, facilities and research.

This is a fixed-term post until 31 December 2023, and is part-time working on an 80% contract (4 days per week).
