About us:
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Robotics and Machine Vision to join the Department of Engineering Design and Mathematics, linking into the Centre for Machine Vision (CMV) within the Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL) at UWE Bristol.
This post will focus on teaching and supporting students on BEng/MEng/MSc programmes in Robotics, Electronic Engineering. We require particular expertise in robotic systems and machine vision. We are also looking to strengthen our provision in industrial automation, power electronics and machine learning.
The successful candidate will be joining a vibrant research environment and will be based in the Centre for Machine Vision (CMV) within the BRL [https://www.bristolroboticslab.com/centre-for-machine-vision].
The CMV is currently comprised of 15 researchers, five PhD students and four visiting academics. The teams work was graded to be of international standing in the 2014 REF, with 75% of its work considered world-leading/internationally excellent in terms of originality, significance and rigour. The CMV specialises in real-world applications of computer vision and machine learning in the realisation of working demonstrators, with a strong emphasis on 3D data capture, modelling and analysis, that includes applications in medicine (robot-human interaction and healthy aging), agriculture (animal and plant monitoring) and security (face recognition). Other current areas of research strength in the department include medical robotics, engineering modelling and simulation.
About you:
You will be joining a growing and ambitious department that values the integration of research and practice-led materials within teaching and learning very highly. You will have the opportunity to contribute to developing the curriculum. You will become part of a dynamic team of research active teaching staff within the CMV and have an opportunity to link with existing projects and bidding activities with the support of senior Centre staff.
Successful applicants will have a PhD in Robotics, Machine Vision or a related discipline. A teaching qualification and experience of teaching in higher education is desirable.
Experience of working in or collaborating with relevant industry is desirable and there will be opportunities to work with industry on knowledge exchange projects.
