About the vacancy: The UWE Careers and Enterprise Team has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Careers and Enterprise: Student and Graduate Talent joining our Careers and Enterprise Leadership team and the Library, Careers and Inclusivity Executive team. This post is leading our Careers and Enterprise teams in their work across the institution relating to innovative employability and enterprise projects and initiatives that enhance teaching, learning and personalised student experience across the University.
The Careers and Enterprise Service works across the university and with external partners to deliver the aims and objectives of the UWE Employability and Enterprise Plan. Employability and enterprise are a shared endeavor across the UWE community. We aim to support the University to ensure that every course is designed to maximise the employability and enterprise of all our students, preparing them to thrive and flourish in their lives beyond UWE.
This role works in partnership with colleagues across UWE Bristol and within our wider service Library, Careers and Inclusivity. This service is made up of the following teams; the Careers & Enterprise Team, the Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity Team and the Library Service. We work in collaboration with the University’s faculties and other professional services departments to provide a comprehensive range of employability support to our students.
This role is a key, strategic post in our Careers and Enterprise Leadership Team and works with the Head of Careers and Enterprise (Student and Graduate Talent) to ensure teams are collaborating across the service to ensure a comprehensive employability and enterprise offer.
About you:
You are an experienced leader of careers and enterprise provision in an educational setting with a track record of leading teams to provide high quality, agile, customer-focused services. As an expert in Employability and Enterprise, you will have experience supporting the development of service strategy, ensuring you are abreast of the latest developments in this landscape. You will use your expertise to help develop University policy and practice, keeping up to date with the latest thinking in careers education and the sector.
You combine advanced expertise, knowledge and understanding of best practice in the design and delivery of effective careers and enterprise activity within the curriculum and throughout the student journey.
Creative and innovative you will be able to demonstrate a commitment to promoting innovation and continuous improvement of services. Energetic and resilient, you enjoy working at pace and are comfortable with complexity and uncertainty.
You will possess the leadership skills to motivate, inspire and empower diverse teams, driving up engagement, capability, and performance to enable us to achieve our ambitions.
You have excellent communication and influencing skills and establish credibility with the people that you work with.
You are passionate about higher education and inspire your teams individually and collectively to be ambitious and deliver the best possible provision for those that we work with, students, staff and external partners.
Where is this role based?
This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed – £300m has been invested recently on new state-of-the-art learning spaces and accommodation while we continue to develop incredible new facilities to enhance our offer even further.
Frenchay campus has excellent transport links; as well as being located near the motorway network we are within walking distance of two train stations, our bus terminus connects us to the local bus and metrobus network and we also have a range of cycling and changing facilities.

This is a full time, permanent post. This post is available on a job share basis for applicants wishing to work part time. The University’s normal practice is that new appointments will be made at the starting point of the grade.
We will be looking to interview on 6th October.
