About us: The Faculty of the Environment and Technology is looking to appoint a technician to demonstrate and give advice on manufacturing processes and techniques. Students work closely with the technician for advice on material selection, manufacture, testing, and fabrication. Questions and problems are varied and often challenging, and the technician will be on hand to help students reach a successful conclusion. This is an exciting opportunity to join this enthusiastic team delivering high quality engineering education at UWE.
About you: The successful candidate will ideally have a background in a Music Technology or Creative Technologies field and be familiar with the equipment and processes that are found within this area. You will be responsible for setting up and maintaining audio, recording and multimedia equipment. You will therefore need to be organised and proactive. You will have experience of modifying materials to suit the intended audience and be able to work collaboratively with academic and technical colleagues.
Ideally you will have experience of instruction or mentoring, which is a key part of the role, enjoy problem solving and be comfortable and confident supervising inexperienced users, in groups or individually, maintaining a safe working environment for all. Although well supported by others in the technical team, you will need to work on tasks autonomously and without direct supervision.
