About us: Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL) is the most comprehensive academic centre for multi-disciplinary robotics research in the UK. It is a collaborative partnership between the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) and the University of Bristol, and home to a vibrant community of over 300 academics, researchers and industry practitioners. Together, they are world leaders in current thinking on service robotics, intelligent autonomous systems and bio-engineering. An internationally recognised Centre of Excellence in Robotics, BRL’s state-of-the-art facilities cover an area of over 4,600 sq. metres (50,000 sq. feet).
This is an exciting opportunity for a robotics researcher to become part of the Robotics for Nuclear Environments project as part of the BRL. For this post, we are looking for a researcher with expertise in online behaviour risk assessment. However, the research in the Robotics for Nuclear Environments projects divides into three research areas. Ideally, you have some experience in all three of the work package topics. We also strongly encourage candidates who have experience in only one of the research areas and are willing to broaden their research into the other areas to submit an application. About you: We are looking for a robotics researcher with expertise in online behaviour risk assessment for autonomous robots. Ideally, you have experience in research areas such as robotics for hazardous environments or deployment of robot teams in remote environments. We are looking for a team player who is able to work as part of a team of friendly roboticists, but is also able to independently develop their own research agenda. A MSc or PhD in robotics or a related field is required for this post. Experience in setting up robots for experimental validation is also essential.
