UWE Bristol is one of the largest universities in the South West and one of the largest employers in the Bristol region. We currently have an opportunity for a Subject Support Librarian in our Library’s Learning Services Team, supporting the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences (HAS), and based at our Glenside campus in Bristol.
About the vacancy: Supporting students at undergraduate and postgraduate level, you will deliver high quality information and academic skills teaching within the faculty’s programmes. This will include critical and reflective writing, planning and structuring writing, note taking, and finding and evaluating information sources. Benefiting from our strong record of incorporating Technology-Enhanced Learning in our teaching practice, you will deliver synchronous and asynchronous content, for face to face, online and hybrid sessions. You will underpin this with a commitment to inclusive practice and consideration of diverse audiences.
We are working hard to develop our practice in order to support the university ambitions to reduce and eradicate any awarding gaps, and particularly welcome applicants who will be able to demonstrate commitment and ability to help us with this.
The role will involve working closely with other Subject Support Librarians within the Learning Services team at Glenside. You will have specific responsibility for liaising with and supporting a designated health and social care area within the Faculty’s School of Health and Social Wellbeing, although the composition of the faculties are set to change over the next year, so it will be important (ultimately) to be flexible about the subject area. You will also support the library’s enquiry service, as well as having opportunities to be involved in projects spanning Library Services.
In this role, you will be involved in the creation and implementation of Technology Enhanced Learning. This may take the form of online workbooks which are embedded into programme design.
About you: You will be a qualified Librarian (or working towards qualification) with experience in teaching/training and developing students' academic literacy.
You will have:
As a member of Library Services, you will be part of a strong and collaborative community of professional librarians and specialists, and central to the design and delivery of innovative, high quality student support.
This post is based at our Glenside Campus which is set within beautiful grounds in Stapleton, just three miles north east of Bristol City Centre. Regular bus services link the campus to the main Frenchay site, the city centre and surrounding areas, and nearby Bristol Parkway train station.
Home to UWE's Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences, Glenside Campus offers excellent teaching facilities, these include a selection of inter-professional simulation suites, enabling students to practice and develop professional competencies, and one of the best health care libraries in England.
