About you We are seeking to appoint a creative, dynamic and ambitious Associate Dean and Head of School: Creative & Cultural Industries and Partnerships, in the Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries and Education (ACE). You will lead this exciting, newly formed School, bringing together the Departments of Arts and Cultural Industries, and Film and Journalism. As an Associate Dean you will also oversee, champion and drive our Partnerships strategy across the whole of the Faculty.
As a senior member of the ACE Executive, reporting to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of the Faculty, Professor Jane Roscoe, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing both our Partnerships Strategy, and in enhancing our international reputation in the Creative and Cultural Industries. As a Head of School you will work across teaching and learning, research, and partnership portfolios, responsible for achieving Faculty key performance indicators within the School. You will work collaboratively with senior colleagues within the Faculty, University, and across our Partnership network to drive forward our key strategic priorities, all focused on delivering the very best student experience.
The School
The newly created School of Creative and Cultural Industries brings together high quality, impactful and industry-relevant courses from a broad range of subjects, all designed to inspire our students and prepare them for their future careers. Being fully immersed in the Bristol-region Creative and Cultural Industries, our students have unrivalled networking opportunities and exposure to high profile academics and practitioners. The mix of disciplines across the School is brought to life through student-centred and inclusive learning environments, including new purpose-built industry-standard production and post-production facilities, and Design and Fabrication Studios. Surrounded by meaningful partnerships, outstanding facilities, and inspirational staff, our students receive an unrivalled and personalised degree experience preparing them for their future.
Responsible for the day-to-day management of the School and team, we are looking for an experienced Senior Manager with proven leadership skills and a strong and varied record of accomplishment: an individual with a committed work ethic, able to inspire others and motivated to challenge our thinking and create sustainable change. Engaged in practice or research and connected with industry, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate effective performance and resource management skills combined with relevant professional practice experience.
This is an excellent opportunity within this newly formed School, working across both our Frenchay Campus as well as the vibrant City Campus - UWE Bristol's creative and cultural industries campus made up of sites at Bower Ashton, Spike Island, Arnolfini and Watershed.
Our Partnerships
Partnerships and collaborative working are essential parts of all our courses in ACE. They provide crucial opportunities for students to work with a range of businesses and organisations to add industry experience and relevance to their learning. As Associate Dean for Partnerships you will lead the Faculty’s Partnerships work – bolstering our collaborative relationships and implementing innovative ways of strengthening these connections. You will also grow ACE’s Partnership network by brokering relations with new partners who can help provide our students with the outstanding opportunities they deserve.
The successful candidate would be able to demonstrate the ability to generate successful, relevant and sustainable partnerships, helping to drive further the Faculty’s outstanding reputation for practice-led teaching and learning.
The successful candidate will be considered for Professorial status should our criteria for this title be met.
