You will assist us in providing a comprehensive and proactive HR service to members of the university community. About the vacancy:
This is a permanent HR Officer role which will form one half of a job share. Job sharing is a form of part time working where two people share the duties and responsibilities of a post. The working pattern for this post will be Wednesday and Thursday, 8.30am to 5.00pm, and Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm, inclusive of a 1 hour unpaid break each day. The role involves working within a fast paced, friendly, and supportive environment. The role of our HR Officers is to provide generalist HR advice on all aspects of HR policies and procedures to colleagues at all levels across the organisation. You will be providing advice and guidance on a wide range of employment related issues, such as attendance management, performance and conduct.
Each HR Officer has their own portfolio of Schools and Services within the business and a range of subject matter expert areas. This in turn allows you to build relationships and collaborative partnerships with colleagues in your portfolio areas and develop areas of expertise.
About you: You don’t have to have worked in Higher Education to apply for this role, but you will possess experience of operational HR and query resolution within a large, complex organisation.
You have experience of working in a busy team and working collaboratively towards common goals. You are looking to enhance your own personal learning and development, as well as supporting the development of those around you. You understand the importance of confidentiality and you are a constructive, positive communicator.
Where is this role based?
This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed – £300m has been invested recently on new state-of-the-art learning spaces and accommodation while we continue to develop incredible new facilities to enhance our offer even further.
Frenchay campus has excellent transport links; as well as being located near the motorway network we are within walking distance of two train stations, our bus terminus connects us to the local bus and metrobus network and we also have a range of cycling and changing facilities.

This is a part-time permanent post, working 22 hours per week.
Interviews will take place in person, on our Frenchay campus.
This role is therefore campus based with the potential opportunity for some remote working at the current time.
The University’s normal practice is that new appointments will be made at the starting point of the grade.
