About us: UWE Optometry are looking for a Dispensing Optician to support our final year optometry undergraduates while they complete their university-based clinical training in our new optometric clinical facility, the UWE Bristol Eye Clinic.
UWE Optometry students gain clinical experience in a range of eye care clinics in the UWE Bristol Eye Clinic on Glenside Campus, including primary eye care, contact lenses, low vision, binocular vision, paediatric eye care, and dispensing. UWE Bristol Eye Clinic will benefit from the input of an enterprising Dispensing Optician who will supervise Year Three Optometry students and maintain high standards of professionalism and customer service. UWE Bristol Optometry students will benefit from a Dispensing Optician who has up to date experience of all aspects of spectacle dispensing.
About you: You’re a Dispensing Optician who knows how enjoyable it is to help develop the skills of others. You are keen to develop the skills of UWE Bristol Optometry students as well as your own skills in clinical supervision. Your insights and experience of contemporary optometry practice will benefit the development of UWE Bristol Optometry students as they complete their undergraduate training and become future facing, clinically able, business ready graduates. You communicate well with students and patients and are committed to working as part of a forward-thinking team at UWE Bristol Eye Clinic.
This post is based at our Glenside Campus which is set within beautiful grounds in Stapleton, just three miles north east of Bristol City Centre. Regular bus services link the campus to the main Frenchay site, the city centre and surrounding areas, and nearby Bristol Parkway train station.
Home to UWE's Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences, Glenside Campus offers excellent teaching facilities, these include a selection of inter-professional simulation suites, enabling students to practice and develop professional competencies, and one of the best health care libraries in England.

This is a full-time, permanent post, working 37 hours per week. This post is not available on a job share basis.
