NCCPE Team Assistant
Job description
NCCPE overview
Do you want to make a difference? Then help us to realise our goal - to bring about a step change in how the higher education sector engages with the public.
UWE Bristol is an ambitious university. Together, our people are working hard to advance knowledge, inspire people and transform futures. We are looking for people with the skills and ambition
to help us achieve those aims.
UWE Bristol is proud to act as host for the National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE), in partnership with the University of Bristol.
The NCCPE was set up in 2008 to support universities to embed engagement with the public into their culture and ways of working. We do this through inspiring people to understand the value of engagement to their work; supporting people to engage effectively; and connecting people to share learning and practice across the higher education sector and beyond.
The centre receives strategic funding from a consortium of funders, including UK Research and Innovation, Wellcome and the UK Higher Education Funding Councils. We also deliver a vibrant portfolio of services for the sector.
Activities include:
our annual Engage conference which sells out every year and attracts a diverse group of people committed to finding more effective ways to support engagement; our Engage Competition which recognises and rewards quality practice from across the sector; our co-ordination of projects like Community-University Partnership Initiative which supports community organisations and university researchers to create trusting and useful research collaborations which benefit all the partners involved; our Academies, targeting researchers and public engagement professionals and providing an intensive professional development programme; and our wider training programme which supports people who care about engagement to improve their practice.
With so many exciting projects underway and many more in development we are seeking to recruit a team assistant to help us deliver our work.
You will provide administration support to the NCCPE team, and work closely with the NCCPE's Administrator to maintain centre systems and processes. The role will involve basic diary management, data entry, filing and other basic administrative tasks, help with event preparation/ delivery and the handling and routing of phone and email enquiries.
Come and join this friendly, dynamic team based at the Arnolfini in Bristol - and help unlock the potential of universities to make a positive difference to society.
Bristol itself is a hub of social and cultural activity. A place with a strong, creative and fiercely independent mind-set. A city with a buzzing music scene, great restaurants and interesting business ventures. It's not surprising Bristol is consistently named as one of the best places to live and work in the UK.
Other benefits, in addition to salary:
*
a generous holiday allowance of 25 days
*
up to 12.5 bank holiday/closure days per year in addition;
*
flexible working;
*
excellent defined benefit pension schemes;
*
option to participate in the cycle to work scheme;
*
family friendly policies;
*
onsite nursery at our Frenchay Campus;
*
option to purchase childcare vouchers.
This post is based at our City Campus in Bristol city centre which comprises of Bower Ashton Studios, Arnolfini, Spike Island and Watershed and is home to UWE Bristol's creative and cultural subjects. Through a combination of University sites and partnerships with creative and cultural organisations in the city, we have developed a network of cultural and creative spaces. These enable our students and staff to develop their professional practice in inspiring learning environments as well as provide opportunities for creative collaboration and networking.
