About us: The Team works closely with UWE Bristol's external partners supporting professional practice placements in health and education settings. The team have a strong relationship with academic colleagues to ensure that placement operations and student administration runs smoothly. UWE Bristol has increasing numbers of healthcare and education students entering its programmes who require placements as part of their programme.
About you: Reporting to the Deputy Head of Student Administration, you will work with university faculty, service and partner colleagues to review, develop and support new and existing placements. As required, you will provide training on university processes, procedures, policies and regulations. Where necessary you will take part in the design and implementation of new procedures and systems.
You will be responsible for ensuring the placement calendars and operational agreements with partners are in place and updated. A key part of the role is to negotiate and agree deadlines for operational delivery; building effective working relationships with colleagues to ensure this works. You will work closely with the Student Data and Systems Team ensuring that systems infrastructure is in place for placements.
You will take a proactive, pragmatic, solution focused approach to addressing and resolving any operational issues that may arise. You will have oversight of the Professional Practice Office team ensuring that objectives are met. The team are based at the Glenside and Frenchay Campuses.
If you have experience in working with complex operational delivery, be able to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, and have an interest in supporting students, then we would like to hear from you. An ability to work flexibly, managing multiple priorities, whilst, at times, under pressure is crucial to this role. As is a pragmatic, solution focused approach. You will thrive on change and the challenge of managing the unexpected.
The team are based at our Glenside and Frenchay Campuses. Glenside Campus is set within beautiful grounds in Stapleton, just three miles north east of Bristol City Centre. Regular bus services link the campus to the main Frenchay site, the city centre and surrounding areas, and nearby Bristol Parkway train station.
Home to UWE's Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences, Glenside Campus offers excellent teaching facilities, these include a selection of inter-professional simulation suites, enabling students to practice and develop professional competencies, and one of the best health care libraries in England.
You will also be required to work at Frenchay campus where the education team are based.
Frenchay campus has excellent transport links; as well as being located near the motorway network we are within walking distance of two train stations, our bus terminus connects us to the local bus and metrobus network and we also have a range of cycling and changing facilities.

This is a full time, permanent post, working 37 hours per week and is available on a job-share basis. The University is implementing a hybrid way of working once restrictions from Covid 19 end therefore you will be expected to work on campus for part of your working week. Exact days will be agreed with your line manager.
The University’s normal practice is that new appointments will be made at the starting point of the grade with incremental progression on the anniversary of appointment.
