About us: We are seeking a Senior Research Fellow in the broad area of Industrial and Transformative Technologies for Practice-Led Design. Current research in the Centre for Fine Print Research (CFPR) explores the design and innovation potential presented by new digital fabrication technologies including 3D printing. We welcome applicants whose research interests address the design and transformative potential of these technologies in a range of possible contexts for example in healthcare, bio-materials, sustainable and low-carbon fabrication methods, architecture and manufacturing. We are especially looking for candidates who are open minded, open to new ideas and radical approaches, able to work and communicate across different faculties and disciplines.
About you: The postholder will engage in their own and collaborative research projects, and will have flexibility to shape the direction of their research to achieve the Centre’s objectives. A key objective of the post is to further develop research trajectory by securing external funding from a portfolio of funders including research councils, Innovate UK, charities and contract research. You must have a portfolio of internationally important published research outputs, or evidence of equivalent research outputs such as leading complex projects, collaborations or industrial networks resulting in commercial exploitation or patents.
You will be collaborating within a team of researchers, companies and colleagues in the CFPR’s new state-of-the-art laboratories, using and developing equipment to develop novel ideas and projects. In addition, you may undertake supervision of PhD students and contribute to the development and delivery of our CPD programme and modules development.
