About youWe are now seeking to appoint a creative, dynamic and ambitious Head of Department for Art and Design in the Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries and Education (ACE). As a senior member of the ACE Executive, reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of the Faculty, Professor Jane Roscoe, the successful candidate will play an important role in continuing the transformation of the Department, supporting creative practice and research and ensuring an outstanding student experience across our Art and Design Courses.
There is much to celebrate within the Department, including its recent research successes, its sector leading industry partners, and high student satisfaction across courses. The mix of disciplines are brought to life through a student-centred and inclusive learning environment, which includes a brand new Fabrication building at our Bower Ashton Campus. It is within this context that staff and students thrive, receiving a well-rounded education and student experience that leaves them well positioned for the competitive, global and future workplace.
Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Department and team, we are looking for an experienced senior manager with proven leadership skills and a strong track record of creative practice. An individual who exhibits a strong work ethic, inspires others and is motivated to create sustainable change. Engaged in practice or research and connected with industry, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate effective performance and resource management skills combined with relevant professional practice experience.
This is an excellent opportunity to help shape the Department, working at the vibrant City Campus - UWE Bristol's creative and cultural industries campus made up of sites at Bower Ashton, Spike Island, Arnolfini and Watershed.
