If you have experience as a Commis Chef, or a ready to step up into a more senior position in the Kitchen, then we might have a role for you! We want you to join our team and assist in the management and delivery of tasty and nutritious meals for our customers.
We cater for around 100,000 people each week serving an array of different types of food and drinks in our 15 catering outlets across 3 campuses all located in Bristol.
We’ve got big plans for the Hospitality service at UWE Bristol and you could be part of helping us achieve this vision by supporting the Chef de Partie, Head Chef and senior management team. Day to day, you will work alongside our Chef de Parties to consistently deliver high standards of quality and food presentation and you’ll also get to learn from them the skills to be able to progress in this amazing profession, but you’ll also get the chance to be involved with delivering incredible events throughout the year.
You will have excellent organizational skills, ability to work to strict margins and impeccable time management. You’ll know all about Health and Safety regulations, food hygiene and company specifications.
You’ll get to immerse yourself in our vibrant community and feel part of our students journey through one of the hardest yet rewarding times of their life.
There are many benefits to working with us, for example, a good work life balance, amazing pension scheme, excellent leave allowance starting at a minimum of 25 days, option to buy a TOTUM card (student discount card), cycle to work scheme and many more!
We expect our staff to be available to work between 7 am and 11 pm Monday to Sunday, with shifts on a rota basis, we know people have other commitments outside of work and we can be flexible if there are particular days where a timeslot is taken by something else in your life.
This is a permanent, full time role working 37 hours per week. You would be working 6 weekends in a year, but don’t worry, we’ve got some really generous overtime rates to make it worth your while.
If you fancy some additional overtime, there is also the option to work extra hours e.g. on other weekends or for some of our events and again you’ll be compensated for this. Any shifts after 8pm attract and additional one-fifth of the hourly rate and overtime is paid at time and a half.
If you think this is the right step for you please apply as soon as possible as we may close the vacancy earlier if we find the right candidate.
