Our School of Creative and Cultural Industries brings together colleagues working in humanities, cultural studies and creative practice, covering subject areas including Creative Writing, English Literature, Linguistics, History, Filmmaking, Drama and Photography.
This role is based in the Linguistics, History & Writing cluster which combines the creative excellence of active authors and writers teaching the Creative & Professional Writing programme, the expertise of colleagues working out of the Bristol Centre for Linguistics, and scholars engaged in historical research across a range of geographical areas and time periods.
We engage actively with local communities, and with partners at institutions around the world, and are looking to appoint someone who enhances our existing strengths and teaching interests. This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly, supportive and enthusiastic team.
Established in 2016, the BA in Creative and Professional Writing offers writers the opportunity to develop their work and practice with a team of professional and academically qualified experts who specialise in creating new work for markets and studying that process. Courses include novel writing, performance poetry, scriptwriting for TV, theatre and film, copywriting, publishing, Eco fiction, and cultural communication. Our emphasis is on preparing students for success in rapidly developing, global markets for persuasive and perceptive prose.
The post is 0.5FTE fixed term for two years, with a start date of 1 September 2022. There is the capacity to develop this role into a leadership one within our cluster.
About you
You will be able to deliver outstanding teaching in both face-to-face and online settings, and make an enthusiastic contribution to the collegiate life of the subject cluster, school, faculty and university. You will draw on your own practice to deliver sessions in an authentic and engaging manner, bringing innovative, relevant and fresh approaches to our first, second and third year commercial and copywriting courses. You will be able to demonstrate the application of your creative and copywriting skills to a wide variety of professional situations and a diverse range of clients.
Although a PhD is not an essential requirement, evidence of authorship in creative or technical fields is desirable. We welcome applicants who have studied Creative Writing, English and related subjects at PhD level.

This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed – £300m has been invested in new state-of-the-art learning spaces and accommodation while we continue to develop incredible new facilities to enhance our offer even further.
Frenchay campus has excellent transport links; as well as being located near the motorway network we are within walking distance of two train stations, our bus terminus connects us to the local bus and metrobus network and we also have a range of cycling and changing facilities.

This is a fixed term post of two years and is part time working on a 50% contract.
